Onboarding Platform (ONP)
What it is
Section titled “What it is”The Onboarding Platform (ONP) is the digital onboarding module of the Guardline Suite. It lets financial institutions configure registration journeys for natural persons (KYC) and legal entities (KYB), from the first field filled in to the approval decision, with control over the flow, the appearance, and the risk rules.
Journeys are configured by the institution through the graphical interface of the admin panel, with no code required.
Interaction modes
Section titled “Interaction modes”ONP offers two interaction modes for the end user:
| Mode | Description |
|---|---|
| Screen | Form-based interface with a fixed sequence of steps and logical validations between fields |
| Chat | Conversational interface with AI, where the customer answers questions in a guided dialogue format |
The choice is made per journey. The same institution can use screen mode for legal entity onboarding and chat mode for natural person onboarding, for example.
Features
Section titled “Features”Configurable journeys
Section titled “Configurable journeys”The institution builds the onboarding journey step by step through the graphical interface of the panel, defining:
- Step sequence: which screens or interactions the customer goes through and in what order
- Fields and validations: which data is requested, which fields are required, which format rules to apply
- Conditionality: steps that only appear based on previous answers (e.g., additional documentation for legal entities with revenue above a given amount)
Pre-configured templates
Section titled “Pre-configured templates”ONP ships with ready-to-use journey templates, which the institution can adopt directly or adapt according to its policy:
| Template | Description |
|---|---|
| Natural person (full) | Natural person journey with all verification steps |
| Natural person (express) | Simplified journey with biometrics and document verification |
| Legal entity | Legal entity journey with corporate structure mapping and UBO |
| Minor | Journey with a review and approval step by the legal representative |
White-label
Section titled “White-label”The onboarding experience runs under the institution’s brand. The following elements are configurable:
- Logo, colors, typography, and visual elements
- Custom domain
- Texts and messages for each step
- Communications (emails, SMS) with the institution’s identity
- No visible reference to Guardline in the end user interface
Partner integrations
Section titled “Partner integrations”ONP supports integration with external providers for automated verifications. Connectors are pre-configured on the platform by category:
| Category | Verification examples |
|---|---|
| Facial biometrics | Biometric capture and comparison |
| Document verification | Document authenticity validation |
| Liveness | Real-time liveness detection |
| Facematch | Comparison between selfie and document |
| Device fingerprint | Device identification and reputation |
| Background check | Registration, restrictive list, and court record lookups |
| OCR | Data extraction and validity verification |
The institution can use the already approved partners or integrate its own providers.
Partner fallback
Section titled “Partner fallback”When an external provider is unavailable, ONP applies a contingency chain:
- Automatic retry: the request is resent to the original partner
- Alternative provider: if the retry fails, the verification is routed to a configured substitute provider
- Conditional approval: if no partner responds, the case is referred to the analysis desk in CMP for a human decision
Risk scoring during onboarding
Section titled “Risk scoring during onboarding”The decision engine (shared with the other modules through Guardline Core) evaluates the customer’s risk during registration. The score runs on a scale of 0 to 1000, calculated from 10 weighted factors. The factors include, for example, registration status of the CPF (Brazilian individual taxpayer ID), PEP status, matches on restrictive lists, adverse media, court proceedings, credit score, geographic risk, age bracket, type of legal relationship, and confidence in facial biometrics. The weights of each factor and the classification limits are fully configurable per institution and per journey type.
The result is classified into risk bands (for example, low, medium, high, and critical), each associated with an action: automatic approval, approval with enhanced monitoring (EDD), referral for manual review, or preventive block. The institution configures:
- Which factors feed the calculation and their relative weights
- Which rules determine automatic approval, rejection, or referral for manual review
- Thresholds per journey type, segment, or product
The score calculated during onboarding follows the customer throughout the entire lifecycle, serving as the baseline for continuous monitoring in the Fraud Prevention Platform.
KYC and KYB
Section titled “KYC and KYB”| Process | Coverage |
|---|---|
| KYC (Natural person) | Identity validation, biometrics, background checks, PEP, restrictive lists |
| KYB (Legal entity) | Corporate structure validation, beneficial owners (UBO), corporate ownership chain, company documentation, legal representatives |
For KYB, ONP maps beneficial owners and verifies the corporate ownership chain, as required by AML/CFT regulation. The analysis walks through the ownership levels until it identifies the natural persons who hold ownership or control.
